Responsibilities:
This role aims to enhance the department’s pedagogical practices through collaboration and teamwork. Teachers at West Yas Academy are pivotal in maximizing learning opportunities for all students and contributing to the overall school development with high-quality outcomes.
General Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the achievement of the academy’s vision and strategic goals.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and equal opportunities policies.
- Uphold performance management policies and participate in professional development activities.
- Adhere to the academy’s dress code and computer acceptable use policy.
Main Duties:
- Conduct library information literacy sessions to empower students to utilize resources effectively.
- Select and procure books and materials relevant to curriculum needs and student interests.
- Collaborate with teachers to distribute resources as required for classroom use.
- Catalog and maintain records of library resources using the automated system.
- Manage overdue books, handle lost or damaged items, and maintain an inviting library environment.
- Promote reading through attractive displays, arrange author visits, and organize book fairs.
- Facilitate the school’s book club and manage book orders.
- Liaise with staff, respond to inquiries, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in policy development, attend training sessions, and undertake other reasonable duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science.
- Experience in an international school setting is advantageous.
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience.
Job-specific Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in Inquiry-Based and Common Core curricula.
- Familiarity with UAE Ministry of Education and ADEK regulations.
Personal/Leadership Qualities:
- Dedication to international education principles.
- Strong prioritization and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to initiate and manage change effectively.
