Job Title: Construction Manager
Reports To: Director of Construction or CEO
Position Summary: As a Construction Manager, you will be accountable for ensuring that all construction projects are delivered in accordance with design, specifications, schedule, quality standards, and budget. Your role is critical in supporting the retention of long-term quality clients and optimizing profitability through meticulous planning, coordination, and control of projects from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with construction projects to minimize potential issues.
Project Timeliness: Ensure projects are completed on or before the approved timeline.
Safety Standards: Maintain and enforce safety standards throughout all construction activities.
Resource Management: Ensure that projects and personnel are adequately resourced.
Program Approval: Approve and manage the construction program and oversee the execution of multiple projects.
Team Leadership: Lead project planning efforts and coordinate with teams to drive successful project execution.
Performance Measurement: Measure and assess project performance against goals.
Subcontractor Compliance: Ensure subcontractors meet their contractual obligations before commencing work on-site.
Quality Control: Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure projects are neat and free of defects.
Reporting: Prepare and submit monthly progress and financial reports for all projects to management.
Representation: Represent the company at site meetings and communicate progress updates.
Schedule Development: Develop program schedules for large projects and approve construction programs submitted by project superintendents.
Method Statements: Prepare method statements for project execution.
Resource Approval: Approve the resources needed for project execution and develop deliverable milestones.
Progress Management: Organize and lead weekly meetings to review progress and ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
Resource Assembly: Assemble and allocate all necessary resources for successful project completion.
Standards:
Timeliness: Ensure all projects are completed on or before the approved timeline.
Budget Compliance: Adhere to the approved budget for all projects.
Specification Adherence: Complete projects within the approved specifications.
Client Respect: Treat all clients with the utmost respect and professionalism.
Accident-Free Projects: Maintain a zero-accident environment on all projects.
Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety standards on all projects.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualification; Relevant degree or certification in Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience as a Construction Manager or similar role in the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction procedures, materials, and project management.
Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in project management software and tools.
Work Environment:
This role requires a combination of office work and on-site project management.
Occasional travel to various construction sites may be required.
