Job Summary:

As the Kitchen Manager at The Westin Dhaka, you will oversee and ensure the success of daily kitchen operations. You will showcase your culinary skills by personally performing tasks, leading the kitchen staff, and managing all food-related functions. Your goal is to continuously enhance guest and employee satisfaction while maximizing financial performance. This role involves supervising all kitchen areas to maintain consistent, high-quality food production and ensuring adherence to sanitation and food safety standards.

Candidate Profile:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED; with 6 years of experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related fields. OR
  • 2-year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major from an accredited university; with 4 years of experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related roles.

Core Work Activities:

Leading Kitchen Operations:

  • Provide direction to the kitchen management team.
  • Understand employee roles to fill in or find replacements when needed.
  • Guide and monitor subordinates, setting performance standards and addressing performance issues.
  • Build trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.

Setting and Maintaining Culinary Goals:

  • Develop guidelines and procedures for purchasing and receiving.
  • Establish performance and budget goals.
  • Communicate and enforce safety procedures and standards.
  • Manage department expenses including food cost, supplies, and equipment.

Ensuring Culinary Standards:

  • Direct menu development and food presentation.
  • Monitor food quality to meet standards.
  • Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation regulations.
  • Maintain food storage and purchasing standards.

Exceptional Customer Service:

  • Support service behaviors that exceed customer expectations.
  • Manage daily operations to meet customer expectations.
  • Interact with guests to gather feedback and address concerns.
  • Empower employees to provide excellent service through training and guidelines.

Managing Human Resources:

  • Identify developmental needs and provide coaching to improve skills.
  • Ensure fair treatment of employees.
  • Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports.
  • Administer disciplinary procedures when necessary.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Analyze information to solve problems and make decisions.
