Job Purpose:
As a General Worker or Driver at Transnet, you will play a key role in maintaining terminal operations. Your tasks will include opening and closing twist locks on containers, along with performing various other duties as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Office Work: Assist with basic paperwork and office tasks.
- Security: Help maintain safety and security at the terminal.
- Driving: Operate vehicles with Code 10-14 licenses, ensuring the safe transport of goods.
- Electrical Engineering: Assist with electrical repairs (if needed).
- Boilermaking: Help with metalwork and repairs (if needed).
- Cleaning: Keep buildings and containers clean and organized.
- Machine Operation: Safely operate various machines.
- Safety Officer Duties: Follow safety protocols and promote a safe work environment.
- Twist Locks: Open and close twist locks on container wagons as needed.
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 10 (Level 2).
Skills Needed:
- Cleaning Procedures: Knowledge of effective and safe cleaning practices.
- Time Management: Ability to complete tasks on schedule.
- Reading and Writing: Basic literacy to follow instructions and fill out forms.
- Decision Making: Ability to make quick, smart decisions.
- Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills.
