CARE International is a prominent humanitarian agency engaged in delivering emergency relief and international development projects.
JOB SUMMARY
The Project Officer will work closely with the Project Manager to oversee the implementation of project activities. This role entails mobilization, planning, and monitoring of Beiersdorf initiatives in Bungoma and Kakamega Counties, under the guidance of the Project Manager.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Development and Implementation
- Identify and mobilize project beneficiaries.
- Conduct Training of Trainers (TOT) sessions on YSLA methodology and Entrepreneurship for partner trainers.
- Facilitate cash transfers and linkage to TVET institutions for selected beneficiaries.
- Organize health awareness sessions through radio broadcasts and community campaigns.
- Supervise contracted implementing partners (IPs) and field officers to ensure service quality.
- Foster collaboration among Beiersdorf, CARE Kenya programs, and project partners.
- Coordinate with relevant county departments (Health, Education, Gender, Social Services) for project sustainability.
- Assist in training implementing partner staff on specific project activities.
Program Quality and Learning
- Engage in CARE Kenya’s knowledge and learning activities to support organizational objectives.
- Contribute to accountability and knowledge management through Individual Operating Plans (IOP).
- Support field data collection and research activities.
Personnel, Management, and Administration
- Maintain and manage assigned equipment (motorcycle, computer, etc.).
- Handle project finances responsibly, including advances and expenditure reporting.
Other Duties
- Undertake any other relevant duties assigned by the Project Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Degree in Development Studies, Sociology, Business Administration, Health, or a Diploma in Community Development/Social Work with at least 5 years of experience in VSLA and Enterprise development interventions.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community development programs, focusing on VSLA methodology and Enterprise development.
- Strong communication and report writing skills.
- Proficiency in adult learning methodologies.
- Experience in community entry processes, team building, and task completion with minimal supervision.
- Training of Facilitators/Training of Trainers (TOF/TOT) experience.
- Experience in building partnerships and synergies.
Note: Background in community health is an added advantage.
