ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Manager of Marketing & Communications (Digital & Data) is a creative, collaborative leader on Big Thought’s marketing and communications team. This role exudes passion about storytelling, youth-centered impact, and using digital platforms and data to help people understand why our work matters.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
As a senior partner to the Head of Marketing & Communications, this role plays a key part in shaping how Big Thought communicates internally and externally. The Senior Manager helps connect teams, ideas, and stories across the organization, ensuring our messaging is clear, consistent, and rooted in our mission.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Lead digital storytelling across websites, email, and social channels, ensuring content reflects Big Thought’s mission, youth voice, and impact.
  • Develop and manage an editorial calendar aligned with organizational priorities, campaigns, and key moments.
  • Track and interpret digital performance (email marketing, website activity, engagement) and share insights in clear, meaningful ways.
  • Partner with teams across the organization to translate programs, initiatives, and updates into compelling digital and internal communications.
  • Play a key role in internal communications, helping staff stay informed, aligned, and connected to the organization’s work and direction.
  • Support digital campaigns tied to fundraising, events, recruitment, and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with creative partners to ensure strong visual storytelling and brand consistency.
  • Contribute ideas that strengthen Big Thought’s digital presence and community connection.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in digital marketing, communications, or storytelling-focused roles.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms, website content management systems, and basic digital analytics.
  • Comfort using data to inform storytelling and decisions.
  • Experience supporting internal communications or organization-wide messaging.
  • Background in nonprofit, education, or mission-driven work preferred.
     

Physical Work Environment:
To perform the duties of role successfully, you may regularly be required to: sit, stand, or stare at computer screen for long periods of time; participate in external activities; use various office equipment, some manual; work in environment with loud sounds, multiple distractions, and interruptions; be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures on occasion.
