POSITION SUMMARY
Tolerance Masters LLC is a precision machine shop located in Circle Pines, MN. We specialize in the manufacturing of close tolerance flight safety and critical performance machined parts and sub-assemblies.
We are seeking a capable and experienced Tool Maker, responsible for fabricating, and maintaining custom fixtures and tooling to support CNC mill, grinding, wire edm, inspection and lathe operations. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, precision engineering, and material properties to ensure optimal performance and efficiency on the production floor
HOURS
Monday-Thursday: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create custom fixtures based on job specifications and engineering drawings
- Collaborate with engineers and machinists to determine fixture requirements and functionality
- Set up, program, and run CNC machines and other shop equipment (e.g., manual mills, lathes, grinders) to fabricate fixtures and tooling
- Assemble, test, and adjust fixtures to meet design specifications and production needs
- Inspect finished fixtures for accuracy, quality, and compliance with dimensional tolerances
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on fixtures to ensure consistent performance
- Maintain detailed records of fixture designs, modifications, and usage
- Propose and implement improvements to fixture designs and machining processes to enhance productivity and reduce waste
- Work closely with CNC operators to ensure seamless integration of fixtures into production workflows and act as support for unexpected problems that come up during production
- Fill in as a rework machinist when necessary
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in CNC machining preferred
- 10+ years of experience in a machining or manufacturing environment, with a focus on fixture making or tooling
- Proficiency in operating CNC mills and lathes, with a deep understanding of machining principles and setups
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for fixture design
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and shop floor inspection with manual measuring tools
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining and fixture-related challenges effectively
- Attention to detail: High level of precision and accuracy in all aspects of fixture design and fabrication
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials and tools (up to 50 lbs) as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certification in machining or a related field
- Experience with MASTERCAM software for CNC programming 4 axis mill, 2 axis lathe
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality systems
- Experience in a wide range of setups including sine bars, angle plates, and manual indexers
