Staff Accountant
Location: Remote (United States)
ARETUM is a leading company that provides innovative solutions for government contracting. We are looking for a careful and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will manage various accounting tasks, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and creating financial reports.
As a Staff Accountant, you will help ARETUM deliver excellent service to federal clients in many areas. Our success comes from our dedication to providing technology-driven support and essential services, and the finance team is a key part of this effort.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries according to US GAAP standards.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate any discrepancies.
- Perform bank account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports.
- Help with semi-monthly payroll preparation as needed.
- Analyze monthly financial activities to identify any unusual patterns.
- Record and process vendor invoices.
- Monitor and analyze customer invoices each month.
- Resolve issues with our accounting software, Unanet.
- Assist the Accounting team with special projects as needed.
- Act as a point of contact for Accounting within the organization.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Experience with recording transactions that follow US GAAP.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organizational and time management abilities.
- Self-motivated and capable of meeting deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Familiarity with Unanet or willingness to learn it quickly.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance is required.
- At least three years of related experience is needed.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
- Experience in Government Contracting is preferred.
- Knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards and DCAA audits is a plus.
