Job Title: Machinist

Reporting to: Workshop Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:

• Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand job specifications.
• Take measurements and mark materials for cutting or shaping.
• Plan the sequence of actions required to complete jobs efficiently.
• Select and set up appropriate machines (e.g., lathes) and load materials.
• Monitor machines during operation to adjust settings, maintain quality, and troubleshoot issues.
• Program machines to control batch size and operating speed.
• Inspect output to ensure it meets specifications and identify and discard defective items.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines and undertake minor repairs as needed.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Craft certificate in Machining or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 10 years of work experience in a busy workshop environment.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
