JOB DESCRIPTION
Tolerance Masters LLC is a precision contract machine shop located in Circle Pines, MN. We specialize in the manufacturing of close tolerance flight safety and critical performance machined parts and sub-assemblies.
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting machining processes to manufacture high-precision components for the aerospace and defense industries. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in precision machining, turning, grinding, CNC technologies, and manufacturing systems, with a focus on efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement.
HOURS
Monday-Friday, 40-hour work week
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and optimize processes, design fixtures, and create equipment strategies to support the whole manufacturing process
- Analyze and solve problems from basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts through to a wide range of complex and advanced problems which require novel and innovative approaches or a breakthrough technology
- Collaborate with sales, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with specifications
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process-related issues
- Maintain process documentation, including routings, drawings, work instructions, and SOPs
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment wearing the necessary PPE
- Perform other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE
- 10+years of related experience in a precision machining or aerospace/medical manufacturing environment
- Experience with CAD modeling, and detailed drafting practices
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, inspection techniques, and quality management systems
- Understanding of CNC machine operations, tooling, and G-code programming
SKILLS
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent GED
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with heat treating metals
- Experience with automation and robotics in machining
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
- Associated degree in machining or a related field
