Job Description:

Overall Job Purpose: Operate, monitor, and manage security drones and unmanned vehicles for security operations at assigned sites and projects.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

• Perform ground and flight operations.
• Pilot drones remotely, following specified flight plans or capturing useful footage.
• Conduct flight demonstrations.
• Conduct pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight safety checks.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations.
• Collect security-related data.
• Report and log all incidents observed through aerial feeds.
• Use necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during UAV operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Job Specific Competencies:

• Strong commitment to Safety, Health, Environment, and Community (SHEC) performance.
• Proficient in computer skills, including Google Earth, Google apps, and UAV piloting applications.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to operate radio-controlled airplanes or RC systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.

Experience Required:

• Preferably experience in UAV operations within the mining industry.
• Familiarity with ArduPilot, ArduPilot Mission Planner, MAVlink protocol, QGround Control, Mavlink, RFD Tools, Radio Telemetry, or DJI Go would be advantageous.

Qualifications:

• Completion of Grade 12 (G12) education.
• Valid Remote Pilot License (RPL) from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), with Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) rating being a plus.
